System requirements
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. 4 GB RAM works; 8 GB is comfortable for the larger Whisper models. Plan for about 600 MB of disk for Parakeet, up to 3 GB for Whisper large.
- macOS 12 or newer on Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4). Intel Macs are not supported.
Private by default
In local mode your audio never leaves the machine. Transcription runs on your own CPU or GPU — nothing is uploaded, nothing is logged, and nothing is used to train anyone's models. If you work under NDA or just don't like microphones phoning home, local mode is the whole point.
